It is important to know that sulfites are commonly used as preservatives in dried fruits.  They help in keeping fruits and vegetables fresher and more colorful once they have been dried.  While this is the case, it has been ruled out that it is better to have dried fruits without sulfites. For you to be able to have dried fruits without sulfites, you need to be very careful in all you do so that you end up with the best results thereafter. You can commence by firstly washing and drying the fruit that you have chosen. Cut them into equal slices so that they can dry best and at the same time, ensure that all the stems plus rotten pieces have been discarded as soon as possible.

For all the fruits that have been sliced, they will require to be preserved so that their life span can be extended. Instead of using the sulfites, you can use ascorbic acid since it is safer and at the same time comes from vitamin C.  It is sold in different forms in at different grocery stores and drug stores as well.  For instance, you can purchase it either in liquid form or powder form.  If you have bought it in powder form, all you are required to do is to mix 1 teaspoon of the powder with two cups of water. Once done, you are free to put in the sliced fruits and let them soak in for about three minutes before removing them.
